Should you be sensitive to smells, consider using these methods to mitigate lingering odors:
1) using smallest amounts of product at a time
2) applying product in a well ventilated location
3) staying or walking in well ventilated areas after applying product
4) rubbing the product into the skin until fully absorbed and the area no longer glistens
5) keeping lid on jar when not actively removing product for use

Should you ever find your jar without a lid on or perhaps with a poorly tightened lid, the product inside may start drying out. How dry it is will depend on how long it has been exposed to light and oxygen.

Warm water can be added -proportional to how dry it is - to reconstitute the product, bringing it to the desired texture. Blend/Mix together thoroughly and completely for best results.

Do not attempt if product has dried out enough to be hard or if the product is any color other than the expected aging process of white, cream, light yellow, or light brown.

Should you find your salve has separated into a pool of oil on top of soft cream - Simply mix together using a clean stir stick or a clean finger. This is a natural separation and not one for concern. This separation can be exasperated if left in hot conditions.
